About this section

Fully expand this MalaCard
NIH Rare Diseases:42 Acute myelomonocytic leukemia (amml) is a cancer that typically develops in the bone marrow and blood of older individuals.  amml is one type of acute myeloid leukemia, a group of blood cancers that occur when the amount of white blood cells increases rapidly.  symptoms of amml often include fatigue (due to anemia) or easy bruising or bleeding (due to thrombocytopenia).  the cause of amml is currently unknown.  treatment typically consists of chemotherapy. last updated: 2/12/2013

MalaCards based summary: Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia, also known as leukemia, acute myelomonocytic, is related to eosinophilia and myeloid sarcoma. An important gene associated with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia is MLLT11 (myeloid/lymphoid or mixed-lineage leukemia (trithorax homolog, Drosophila); translocated to, 11), and among its related pathways is C-MYB transcription factor network. The drugs gemtuzumab and gemtuzumab ozogamicin and the compounds mitoxantrone and daunorubicin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include myeloid, bone and bone marrow, and related mouse phenotypes are embryogenesis and integument.
