Summaries for Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia

About this section

NIH Rare Diseases:41 Acute myelomonocytic leukemia (amml) is a cancer that typically develops in the bone marrow and blood of older individuals.  amml is one type of acute myeloid leukemia, a group of blood cancers that occur when the amount of white blood cells increases rapidly.  symptoms of amml often include fatigue (due to anemia) or easy bruising or bleeding (due to thrombocytopenia).  the cause of amml is currently unknown.  treatment typically consists of chemotherapy. last updated: 2/12/2013

MalaCards based summary: Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia, also known as leukemia myelomonocytic acute, is related to myelodysplastic syndrome and eosinophilia. An important gene associated with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia is SEPT9 (septin 9), and among its related pathways are Integrins in angiogenesis and Immune response IL 23 signaling pathway. The drugs gemtuzumab and gemtuzumab ozogamicin and the compounds bryostatin 1 and lenograstim have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include myeloid, bone and bone marrow, and related mouse phenotypes are hearing/vestibular/ear and vision/eye.
