Disease Ontology:8 An upper respiratory tract disease which involves inflammation, pain, and swelling of the adenoid tissue due to the infection by bacteria and viruses. it occurs primarily in children and may be secondary to an allergy, infection of nose or throat and an obstruction of the eustachian tube. the infection has symptom pain, has symptom redness, has symptom swelling, and has symptom difficulty swallowing.

MalaCards: Adenoiditis, also known as chronic adenoiditis, is related to adenoid cystic carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, and has symptoms including pain, difficulty swallowing and redness. An important gene associated with Adenoiditis is MUC1 (mucin 1, cell surface associated), and among its related pathways are MicroRNAs in cancer and Cytoskeleton remodeling Keratin filaments. The compounds progesterone and paraffin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include tonsil, and related mouse phenotypes are cellular and normal.
