Summaries for Adrenal Adenoma

NIH Rare Diseases : 50 adenomas of the adrenal gland are non-cancerous (benign) tumors on the adrenal gland. most do not cause any signs or symptoms and rarely require treatment. however, some may become "active" or "functioning" which means they produce hormones, often in excess of what the adrenal glands typically produce. high levels of these hormones can lead to complications, including primary aldosteronism, cushing's syndrome and other medical conditions. functioning adrenal adenomas may be treated with surgery and/or medications. last updated: 11/24/2014

MalaCards based summary : Adrenal Adenoma, also known as adenoma of the adrenal gland, is related to pheochromocytoma and hypertensive encephalopathy. An important gene associated with Adrenal Adenoma is MEN1 (Menin 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Cytochrome P450 - arranged by substrate type and Insulin secretion. The drugs Epinephrine and Racepinephrine have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include adrenal gland, testes and pituitary, and related phenotypes are Increased transferrin (TF) endocytosis and behavior/neurological

Disease Ontology : 12 An endocrine organ benign neoplasm that is a benign tumor of the glandular type (adenoma) in the adrenal gland.
