Disease Ontology:8 A parasitic helminthiasis infectious disease that involves parasitic infection of humans and domestic animals caused by the larval stages of tapeworms of the genus echinococcus in the liver, lungs, spleen, brain, heart and kidneys.

MalaCards: Echinococcosis, also known as hydatidosis, is related to arthritis and tuberculosis. An important gene associated with Echinococcosis is MT-CO1 (mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase I), and among its related pathways are Primary immunodeficiency and COPII (Coat Protein 2) Mediated Vesicle Transport. The drug albendazole and the compounds solium and glatiramer acetate have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Related mouse phenotypes are hematopoietic system and cellular.

CDC:3 Echinococcosis is a parasitic disease caused by infection with tiny tapeworms of the genus Echinocococcus. Echinococcosis is classified as either cystic echinococcosis or alveolar echinococcosis.
