NIH Rare Diseases:42 Horner's syndrome consists of miosis (constriction of the pupil), ptosis (drooping of the upper eyelid), anhidrosis (absence of sweating of the face), and enophthalmos (sinking of the eyeball into the eye socket).  it is caused by injury to the sympathetic nerves of the face. in rare cases, horner's syndrome is congenital (present from birth) and associated with a lack of pigmentation of the iris (colored part of the eye). last updated: 3/6/2012

MalaCards: Horner's Syndrome, also known as bernard-horner syndrome, is related to carotid artery dissection and pleural empyema. An important gene associated with Horner's Syndrome is CD6 (CD6 molecule). The compound oligonucleotide have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include eye, testes and thyroid.

Genetics Home Reference:21 Horner syndrome is a disorder that affects the eye and surrounding tissues on one side of the face and results from paralysis of certain nerves. Horner syndrome can appear at any time of life; in about 5 percent of affected individuals, the disorder is present from birth (congenital).
