Wikipedia:66 Hypochromic anemia is a generic term for any type of anemia in which the red blood cells (erythrocytes)... more...

MalaCards: Hypochromic Anemia, also known as anemia hypochromic, is related to alpha thalassemia and hemochromatosis. An important gene associated with Hypochromic Anemia is ALAS2 (aminolevulinate, delta-, synthase 2), and among its related pathways are African trypanosomiasis and Binding and Uptake of Ligands by Scavenger Receptors. The compounds protoporphyrinogen and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include liver, brain and whole blood, and related mouse phenotypes are reproductive system and liver/biliary system.
