NIH Rare Diseases: Lupus nephritis is a kidney disorder that is a complication of systemic lupus erythematous (SLE), commonly known as lupus. The symptoms of lupus nephritis include blood in the urine, a foamy appearance to the urine, high blood pressure, and swelling in any part of the body. This condition typically occurs in people aged 20 to 40 years. Treatment may involve medications to suppress the immune system, dialysis, or a kidney transplant. Visit our Web page on lupus for more information and resources.30

MalaCards: Lupus Nephritis is related to systemic lupus erythematosus and glomerulopathy. An important gene associated with Lupus Nephritis is FCGR2A (Fc fragment of IgG, low affinity IIa, receptor (CD32)), and among its related pathways are Staphylococcus aureus infection and RAR-Gamma-RXR-Alpha Degradation. The drug cyclophosphamide and the compounds cyclophosphamide and ionomycin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include whole blood, kidney and skin, and related mouse phenotypes are respiratory system and endocrine/exocrine gland.
