Summaries for Lymphangitis

About this section
Disease Ontology:10 A lymphatic system disease that is characterized by inflammation of the lymphatic channels which occurs as a result of infection at a site distal to the channel. It is caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A strep) or Staphylococcus aureus. Lymphangitis is also sometimes called blood poisoning.

MalaCards based summary: Lymphangitis, also known as lymphangitis nos, is related to melioidosis and filarial elephantiasis. An important gene associated with Lymphangitis is GPT2 (Glutamic Pyruvate Transaminase (Alanine Aminotransferase) 2), and among its related pathways are Arginine biosynthesis and Alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism. Affiliated tissues include breast, lung and brain.
