Summaries for Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes

OMIM : 54
Preterm premature rupture of the membranes is defined as rupture of membranes before 37 weeks of gestation, which occurs in approximately 3% of all pregnancies and accounts for about one-third of spontaneous preterm births (ACOG Practice Bulletin, 1998). Srinivas and Macones (2005) reviewed the pathophysiology of PPROM and noted that familial clustering and ethnic differences in the incidence of PPROM suggest possible genetic influences. (610504)

MalaCards based summary : Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes, also known as preterm premature rupture of the membranes, susceptibility to, is related to congenital chloride diarrhea and optic atrophy 7, and has symptoms including premature rupture of membranes An important gene associated with Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes is SERPINH1 (Serpin Family H Member 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Degradation of the extracellular matrix and Jak-STAT signaling pathway (KEGG). The drugs Dinoprostone and Misoprostol have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include testes, placenta and cervix, and related phenotypes are homeostasis/metabolism and neoplasm
