Summaries for Syringoma

About this section
NIH Rare Diseases:42 Syringomas are firm yellowish, translucent, or skin colored papules that are often found on the face, particularly around the eyes. they may occur suddenly in crops or multiples. they arise from the sweat ducts. they usually cause no symptoms. they are not associated with underlying abnormality. they are found more commonly in caucasians, and in females at puberty or near middle-age. last updated: 8/6/2009

MalaCards based summary: Syringoma, also known as syringoma nos, is related to hidradenoma and adenoma. An important gene associated with Syringoma is KRT1 (keratin 1), and among its related pathways are Aurora B signaling and Signaling mediated by p38-alpha and p38-beta. The compounds orcein and eosin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include skin, eye and bone, and related mouse phenotypes are tumorigenesis and digestive/alimentary.

Wikipedia:64 Syringomas are harmless sweat duct tumors, typically found clustered on eyelids, although they may also... more...
