About this section
NIH Rare Diseases:42 Talipes equinovarus is a congenital (present from birth) condition where the foot turns inward and downward. the cause of this condition is not known, although it may be passed down through families in some cases. this condition occurs in about 1 out of every 1,000 births. treatment may involve moving the foot into the correct position and using a cast to keep it there. this process is done in small increments over a period of time. in severe cases, surgery may be needed. body {background-color: #ffffff; font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: 12pt;} last updated: 2/27/2014

MalaCards based summary: Talipes Equinovarus, also known as congenital talipes equinovarus, is related to clubfoot and polydactyly. An important gene associated with Talipes Equinovarus is HOXD13 (homeobox D13), and among its related pathways are EGFR Signaling Pathway and LT-BetaR Pathway. The compounds d-api and z-dqmd-fmk have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include bone, and related mouse phenotypes are taste/olfaction and pigmentation.
