CDC: An aortic aneurysm (AA) is a ballooning or dilatation of the aorta, the large artery that carries blood from the heart through the chest and abdomen. AAs are classified according to their location; in the chest, it is called a thoracic AA, in the abdomen an abdominal AA (AAA), and across both areas a thoracoabdominal AA.2
MalaCards: Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm, also known as thoracic aortic aneurysm without mention of rupture (disorder), is related to familial thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection and thoracic aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections. An important gene associated with Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm is ACTA2 (actin, alpha 2, smooth muscle, aorta), and among its related pathways are Downregulation of TGF-beta receptor signaling and TGF-beta/Smad Signaling. The drug trimethaphan camsylate and the compounds serine and bleomycin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include heart, smooth muscle and t cells, and related mouse phenotypes are growth/size and homeostasis/metabolism. Wikipedia: A thoracic aortic aneurysm is an aortic aneurysm that presents primarily in the thorax.44 more... |
