Summaries for Transient Global Amnesia

NIH Rare Diseases : 50 transient global amnesia (tga) is a condition characterized by sudden onset of memory loss and confusion. during an episode of tga, a person is not able to make new memories. the person may be disoriented in regard to time and place, but can remember who they are and can recognize family members. tga typically lasts for several hours, but can last up to ten hours. since no memories are made during a tga episode, the person will never remember what happened during this period, but all other memory is usually intact. most people have only one episode of tga during their lifetime. the underlying cause of tga is unclear. there is no specific treatment for tga as it usually resolves on its own. last updated: 10/31/2016

MalaCards based summary : Transient Global Amnesia, also known as amnesia, transient global, is related to transposition of the great arteries and transposition of the great arteries, dextro-looped 1. An important gene associated with Transient Global Amnesia is PDE5A (Phosphodiesterase 5A), and among its related pathways/superpathways are TGF-beta Signaling Pathway (WikiPathways) and Spinal Cord Injury. Affiliated tissues include temporal lobe, brain and heart, and related phenotypes are hematopoietic system and normal

Disease Ontology : 12 An amnestic disorder that is characterized by temporary but almost total disruption of short-term memory with a range of problems accessing older memories.

Wikipedia : 72 Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a neurological disorder whose key defining characteristic is a... more...
