Summaries for Adrenal Adenoma

GARD : 20 Adenomas of the adrenal gland are non-cancerous (benign) tumors on the adrenal gland. Most do not cause any signs or symptoms and rarely require treatment. However, some may become "active" or "functioning" which means they produce hormones, often in excess of what the adrenal glands typically produce. High levels of these hormones can lead to complications, including primary aldosteronism, Cushing's syndrome and other medical conditions. Functioning adrenal adenomas may be treated with surgery and/or medications.

MalaCards based summary : Adrenal Adenoma, also known as adenoma of the adrenal gland, is related to primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease and aldosterone-producing adenoma. An important gene associated with Adrenal Adenoma is MEN1 (Menin 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Cytochrome P450 - arranged by substrate type and Aldosterone synthesis and secretion. The drugs Hydrocortisone and Hydrocortisone acetate have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include adrenal gland, pituitary and kidney, and related phenotypes are Reduced mammosphere formation and cardiovascular system

Disease Ontology : 12 An endocrine organ benign neoplasm that is a benign tumor of the glandular type (adenoma) in the adrenal gland.

Wikipedia : 73 An adenoma is a benign tumor of epithelial tissue with glandular origin, glandular characteristics, or... more...
