Summaries for Adrenal Adenoma

NIH Rare Diseases : 52 Adenomas of the adrenal gland are non-cancerous (benign) tumors on the adrenal gland . Most do not cause any signs or symptoms and rarely require treatment. However, some may become "active" or "functioning" which means they produce hormones , often in excess of what the adrenal glands typically produce. High levels of these hormones can lead to complications, including primary aldosteronism , Cushing's syndrome and other medical conditions. Functioning adrenal adenomas may be treated with surgery and/or medications.

MalaCards based summary : Adrenal Adenoma, also known as adenoma of the adrenal gland, is related to primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease and acth-independent macronodular adrenal hyperplasia. An important gene associated with Adrenal Adenoma is MEN1 (Menin 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Cytochrome P450 - arranged by substrate type and Myometrial Relaxation and Contraction Pathways. The drugs Adrenergic beta-Agonists and Adrenergic alpha-Agonists have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include adrenal gland, pituitary and testes, and related phenotypes are Reduced mammosphere formation and cardiovascular system

Disease Ontology : 12 An endocrine organ benign neoplasm that is a benign tumor of the glandular type (adenoma) in the adrenal gland.

Wikipedia : 74 An adenoma is a benign tumor of epithelial tissue with glandular origin, glandular characteristics, or... more...
