Summaries for Enterobiasis

CDC : 3 Pinworm infection is caused by a small, thin, white roundworm called Enterobius vermicularis. Although pinworom infection can affect all people, it most commonly occurs among children, institutionalized persons, and household members of persons with pinworm infection. Pinworm infection is treatable with over-the-counter or prescription medication, but reinfection, which occurs easily, should be prevented.

MalaCards based summary : Enterobiasis, also known as oxyuriasis, is related to malaria and strongyloidiasis, and has symptoms including fever and pruritus. An important gene associated with Enterobiasis is ANGPTL6 (Angiopoietin Like 6), and among its related pathways/superpathways are TGF-Beta Pathway and Akt Signaling. The drugs Piperazine and Mebendazole have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include colon, ovary and kidney, and related phenotypes are growth/size/body region and homeostasis/metabolism

Disease Ontology : 12 A parasitic helminthiasis infectious disease that involves infection of the anus by the pinworm Enterobius vermicularis. The major symptom is perianal itching. Infected people experience perianal pruritus and excoriations from scratching.

Wikipedia : 76 Pinworm infection, also known as enterobiasis, is a human parasitic disease caused by the pinworm. The... more...
