It most commonly affects people around the age of 50.Frozen shoulder will usually get better without treatment. During the first phase of frozen shoulder, the focus is on pain relief. Afterwards, the main goal of treatment is to help you move your shoulder more.Common treatments for pain relief include the following:Application of heat or cold to the jointAnti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen (tablets or cream)Steroids (tablets or injection in shoulder)Hydrodilatation / Arthrographic distension (injection of a solution to improve joint flexibility)Stretching exercises and physiotherapy can be used to improve joint mobility. Surgery is rarely used in the treatment of frozen shoulder because it gets better on its own, and the procedure carries the usual risks associated with surgery and the use of anesthetics. This also applies to mobilization of the joint under general anesthetic.
