Summaries for Fuchs' Heterochromic Uveitis

NIH Rare Diseases : 54 Fuchs heterochromic iridocyclitis (FHI) is an unusual form of chronic (long-lasting) uveitis. Uveitis is swelling and irritation of the middle layer of the eye. Diagnosis of FHI is considered in people with floaters, vision loss, and heterochromia. FHI often affects young adults and most often involves a single eye. People with FHI are at risk for cataract, glaucoma, and vitreous opacity (clouding of the jelly-like substance in the eyeball).  The cause of FHI is not known. Click here to view a diagram of the eye.

MalaCards based summary : Fuchs' Heterochromic Uveitis, also known as fuchs heterochromic iridocyclitis, is related to uveitis and iridocyclitis. An important gene associated with Fuchs' Heterochromic Uveitis is TGFB2 (Transforming Growth Factor Beta 2). The drugs Mycophenolic acid and Prednisolone phosphate have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include eye, and related phenotype is endocrine/exocrine gland.

Disease Ontology : 12 A syndrome that is a chronic unilateral (or rarely bilateral) iridocyclitis appearing with the triad of heterochromia, predisposition to cataracts and glaucoma, and keratitic percipitates on the posterior corneal surface.
