Summaries for Inflammatory Diarrhea

Disease Ontology : 12 A gastrointestinal system infectious disease involving diarrhea that occurs when there is damage to the mucosal lining or brush border, which leads to a passive loss of protein-rich fluids, and a decreased ability to absorb these lost fluids. It can be caused by bacterial infections, viral infections, parasitic infections, or autoimmune problems such as inflammatory bowel diseases. It can also be caused by tuberculosis, colon cancer, and enteritis.

MalaCards based summary : Inflammatory Diarrhea is related to diarrhea and intestinal impaction. An important gene associated with Inflammatory Diarrhea is PITX1 (Paired Like Homeodomain 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Transport of glucose and other sugars, bile salts and organic acids, metal ions and amine compounds and ADP signalling through P2Y purinoceptor 12. The drugs Nitazoxanide and Acidophilus have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include colon, testes and t cells, and related phenotypes are digestive/alimentary and endocrine/exocrine gland
