Summaries for Leptospirosis

CDC : 3 Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects humans and animals. It is caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In humans, it can cause a wide range of symptoms, some of which may be mistaken for other diseases. Some infected persons, however, may have no symptoms at all. Without treatment, Leptospirosis can lead to kidney damage, meningitis (inflammation of the membrane around the brain and spinal cord), liver failure, respiratory distress, and even death.

MalaCards based summary : Leptospirosis, also known as weil disease, is related to uveitis and viral hepatitis. An important gene associated with Leptospirosis is PIK3C2A (Phosphatidylinositol-4-Phosphate 3-Kinase Catalytic Subunit Type 2 Alpha), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Innate Immune System and PEDF Induced Signaling. The drugs Emtricitabine and Doxycycline have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include testes, kidney and liver, and related phenotypes are Synthetic lethal with MLN4924 (a NAE inhibitor) and Synthetic lethal with MLN4924 (a NAE inhibitor)

Disease Ontology : 12 A primary bacterial infectious disease that involves systemic infection, has material basis in Leptospira, which is transmitted by contact with water, food, or soil containing urine from the infected animals. The infection has symptom jaundice, has symptom chills, has symptom fever, has symptom muscle pain, and has symptom hepatomegaly.

Wikipedia : 75 Leptospirosis is an infection caused by corkscrew-shaped bacteria called Leptospira. Signs and symptoms... more...
