Summaries for Lipid Pneumonia

Disease Ontology: 11 An aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the aspiration of lipids. It is the result of a foreign body-type reaction to the presence of lipid material within the lung parenchyma. It is caused by inhalation of nasal drops with oil base or cosmetic oil and aspiration of mineral oil when used as a laxative agent.

MalaCards based summary: Lipid Pneumonia, also known as exogenous lipoid pneumonia, is related to pneumonia and aspiration pneumonitis. An important gene associated with Lipid Pneumonia is SP110 (SP110 Nuclear Body Protein), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Surfactant metabolism and Defective CSF2RA causes SMDP4. Affiliated tissues include lung, liver and brain, and related phenotype is respiratory system.

GARD: 19 Pneumonia due to aspiration or inhalation of various oily or fatty substances.
