Summaries for Neutrophilic Dermatosis, Acute Febrile

GARD : 20 Acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis is a skin condition characterized by fever, inflammation of the joints ( arthritis ), and painful skin lesions that appear mainly on the face, neck, back and arms. Although middle-aged women are most likely to develop this condition, it may also affect men, older adults and even infants. The exact cause of acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis often isn't known. It is suspected that it can be a reaction of the body to certain exposures (sun), infections ( Streptococcus bacteria, C ampylobacter ), or medications ( azathioprine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications ). This condition can also occur with some types of cancer and other serious health problems. Most often, it isn't serious and will clear on its own in a few months. Healing is much more rapid; however, with treatment, such as corticosteroid use.

MalaCards based summary : Neutrophilic Dermatosis, Acute Febrile, also known as sweet syndrome, is related to vasculitis and cellulitis, and has symptoms including seizures An important gene associated with Neutrophilic Dermatosis, Acute Febrile is MEFV (MEFV Innate Immuity Regulator, Pyrin), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Innate Immune System and Cytokine Signaling in Immune system. Affiliated tissues include myeloid, neutrophil and bone, and related phenotypes are skin nodule and erythematous papule

Disease Ontology : 12 A skin disease that is characterized by sudden onset of well defined tender plaques or nodules accompanied by fever, arthralgias, ocular inflammation, headaches and, rarely, oral or genital lesions.

OMIM® : 57 Acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis (AFND) is an autosomal dominant autoinflammatory disorder characterized by onset of recurrent fever and dermatologic abnormalities in childhood. Laboratory studies show elevated acute-phase reactants and activation of the inflammatory response, particularly IL1B (147720). Additional more variable features may include myalgia and arthralgia (summary by Masters et al., 2016). (608068) (Updated 20-May-2021)

UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot : 72 Pyrin-associated autoinflammatory disease: An autosomal dominant autoinflammatory disorder characterized by childhood onset of recurrent episodes of fever, neutrophilic dermatosis, myalgia and arthralgia. PAAND has incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity.
