Summaries for Ornithosis

CDC : 3 Chlamydia psittaci is a type of bacteria that often infects birds. Less commonly, these bacteria can infect people and cause a disease called psittacosis. Psittacosis causes a wide range of symptoms, including fever, headache, and a dry cough. This illness can also cause pneumonia (a lung infection) that may require treatment or care in a hospital. Rarely, psittacosis can be deadly.

MalaCards based summary : Ornithosis, also known as psittacosis, is related to pneumonia and lymphoma, and has symptoms including fever, headache and pneumonia. An important gene associated with Ornithosis is PIK3C2A (Phosphatidylinositol-4-Phosphate 3-Kinase Catalytic Subunit Type 2 Alpha), and among its related pathways/superpathways is Toxoplasmosis. The drugs Rifabutin and Doxycycline have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include testes, lung and skin.

Disease Ontology : 12 A primary bacterial infectious disease that results in systemic infection, has material basis in Chlamydia psittaci, which is transmitted by inhaling aerosolized dried droppings or transmitted by contact with infected birds. The infection has symptom fever, has symptom headache, has symptom rash, has symptom chills, and has symptom pneumonia.
