Summaries for Pharyngitis

Disease Ontology : 12 An upper respiratory tract disease involving inflammation of the throat or pharynx resulting from bacterial, viral, fungal infections or irritants like pollutants or chemical substances and smoking. The infection is often referred to as \

MalaCards based summary : Pharyngitis, also known as chronic pharyngitis, is related to aphthous stomatitis and esophagitis, and has symptoms including sore throat, acute sore throat nos and throat irritation. An important gene associated with Pharyngitis is MIR452 (MicroRNA 452
miR-452 was the most enriched miRNA in early neural crest cells (NCCs) and regulated epithelial-mesenchymal interactions in the mandibular region of the first pharyngeal arch (PA1) by directly targeting Wnt5a in the NCC-derived mesenchyme. miR-452 negatively regulates secretion of Wnt5a from the NCC-derived mesenchyme of PA1, and that Wnt5a normally negatively regulates Shh signaling to the ectoderm. Since Shh produced in the endoderm activates ectodermal expression of Fgf8 and secreted Fgf8 functions to promote Dlx2 expression in the neighboring NCC-derived mesenchyme, miR-452 might regulate Dlx2 positively in part through this complex epithelial-mesenchymal interaction. Of course, miR-452 and other NCC-enriched miRNAs are likely to target other mRNAs in the NCC-derived mesenchyme of PA1 that further regulate the epithelial-mesenchymal interactions required for proper PA development. ), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Toxoplasmosis and Transcriptional misregulation in cancer. The drugs Cedax and Ibuprofen have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include tonsil, testes and lung.
