Summaries for Pontiac Fever

CDC : 3 Legionnaires’ (LEE-juh-nares) disease is a serious type of pneumonia (lung infection) caused by Legionella (LEE-juh-nell-a) bacteria. Legionella can also cause a milder illness called Pontiac fever. People can get sick when they breathe in mist or accidently swallow water into the lungs containing Legionella. Most people exposed to Legionella do not get sick. However, people 50 years or older, current or former smokers, and people with a weakened immune system or chronic disease are at increased risk.

MalaCards based summary : Pontiac Fever is related to legionellosis and legionnaires' disease. An important gene associated with Pontiac Fever is CSRP1 (Cysteine And Glycine Rich Protein 1). The drugs Azithromycin and Clarithromycin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include lung and testes, and related phenotypes are fever and headache

Disease Ontology : 12 A legionellosis that involves a milder respiratory illness without pneumonia. Symptoms include fever, headache and muscle aches which last for 2 to 5 days.

Wikipedia : 76 Pontiac fever is an acute, nonfatal respiratory disease caused by various species of Gram-negative... more...
