Summaries for Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes

OMIM : 57 Preterm premature rupture of the membranes is defined as rupture of membranes before 37 weeks of gestation, which occurs in approximately 3% of all pregnancies and accounts for about one-third of spontaneous preterm births (ACOG Practice Bulletin, 1998). Srinivas and Macones (2005) reviewed the pathophysiology of PPROM and noted that familial clustering and ethnic differences in the incidence of PPROM suggest possible genetic influences. (610504)

MalaCards based summary : Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes, also known as preterm premature rupture of membranes, is related to funisitis and pelvic organ prolapse. An important gene associated with Preterm Premature Rupture of the Membranes is SERPINH1 (Serpin Family H Member 1), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Innate Immune System and Cytokine Signaling in Immune system. The drugs Cefuroxime and Ampicillin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include testes, cervix and heart, and related phenotypes are premature rupture of membranes and homeostasis/metabolism

Disease Ontology : 12 A female reproductive system disease characterized by rupture of chorioamniotic membranes before 37 weeks of gestation.
