Summaries for Pyogenic Granuloma

NIH Rare Diseases : 52 Pyogenic granuloma are small, reddish bumps on the skin that bleed easily due to an abnormally high number of blood vessels. They typically occur on the hands, arms, or face. While the exact cause of pyogenic granulomas is unknown, they often appear following injury. Pyogenic granuloma is often observed in infancy and childhood, but may also be observed in adults, particularly in pregnant women. Small pyogenic granulomas may go away on their own. Larger lesions are treated with surgery, electrocautery , freezing, or lasers.

MalaCards based summary : Pyogenic Granuloma, also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is related to capillary hemangioma and spindle cell sarcoma. An important gene associated with Pyogenic Granuloma is KRAS (KRAS Proto-Oncogene, GTPase), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Akt Signaling and Response to elevated platelet cytosolic Ca2+. The drugs Timolol and Maleic acid have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include skin, tongue and endothelial, and related phenotypes are cardiovascular system and homeostasis/metabolism
