Summaries for Scrub Typhus

CDC : 3 Typhus fevers are a group of diseases caused by bacteria that are spread to humans by fleas, lice, and chiggers. Typhus fevers include scrub typhus, murine typhus, and epidemic typhus. Chiggers spread scrub typhus, fleas spread murine typhus, and body lice spread epidemic typhus. The most common symptoms are fever, headaches, and sometimes rash.

MalaCards based summary : Scrub Typhus, also known as tsutsugamushi disease, is related to epidemic typhus and acalculous cholecystitis, and has symptoms including fever, headache and muscle pain. An important gene associated with Scrub Typhus is CD40LG (CD40 Ligand), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Akt Signaling and Toll-like Receptor Signaling Pathway. The drugs Doxycycline and Azithromycin have been mentioned in the context of this disorder. Affiliated tissues include testes, skin and liver, and related phenotypes are renal insufficiency and photophobia

Disease Ontology : 12 A typhus that has material basis in Orientia tsutsugamushi, which is transmitted by trombiculid mites (Leptotrombidium deliense). The infection has symptom fever, has symptom headache, has symptom muscle pain, has symptom cough, has symptom maculopapular rash, has symptom eschar, has symptom splenomegaly and has symptom lymphadenopathy.
