Summaries for Spitz Nevus

NIH Rare Diseases : 53 Spitz nevus are non-cancerous skin lesions that tend to be dome-shaped, red, reddish-brown or dark colored. They usually develop on the face or limbs of young children. They tend to grow quickly initially, but then stabilize or even disappear after a period of time. Spitz nevi can be very difficult to distinguish from melanoma, as a result treatment tends to involve excision of the nevi.

MalaCards based summary : Spitz Nevus, also known as epithelioid and spindle cell nevus, is related to keratoacanthoma and sarcoma. An important gene associated with Spitz Nevus is HRAS (HRas Proto-Oncogene, GTPase), and among its related pathways/superpathways are Endometrial cancer and Development HGF signaling pathway. Affiliated tissues include skin, lymph node and tongue, and related phenotypes are neoplasm and no phenotypic analysis
