GARD : 20 Sutton disease 2, also known as recurrent aphthous stomatitis, is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by painful ulcers in the mouth. These sores, which can be of varying size and frequency, are commonly called canker sores. The exact cause of this condition is not fully understood, although it may be due to an abnormal immune response. Treatment is not always necessary, but may include mouth rinses, topical ointments or systemic corticosteroids.
